Fine Line Tattoos with Hailee
What is a fine line tattoo?
Fine line work uses thin lines and light, controlled shading instead of heavy outlines and bold fill. It is the go-to style for delicate lettering, minimal designs, botanicals, constellations, small portraits of pets and meaningful little symbols. Done well, it looks clean and elegant. Done carelessly, it blurs. That is why the artist matters.
Meet Hailee

Popular fine line ideas
- Script and handwriting: names, dates, short quotes, a loved one's signature
- Florals and birth flowers
- Small symbols, constellations and minimal designs
- Delicate memorial pieces, like a heartbeat line or a single flower. See memorial tattoos.
- Fine line details that tie a custom sleeve together
Getting a fine line tattoo that lasts
- Size it right. Very small text and tiny details can soften and spread over the years. Hailee will tell you honestly what size keeps your design readable.
- Pick the placement. Areas that rub a lot or see heavy sun wear faster. Ask about placement before you commit.
- Bring references. Fonts, handwriting samples and photos help her design it right.
- Follow aftercare. Use the instructions for your exact tattoo, and protect healed work from the sun.

Frequently asked questions
- Who does fine line tattoos at Flashover Ink?
Hailee Scott, co-owner and veteran, leads fine line and precision linework at Flashover Ink in Copperas Cove. Book her at web.getporter.io/artist/haileescott. - Do fine line tattoos fade or blur?
All tattoos soften with time, and very small, tightly packed details soften first. Choosing the right size and placement and protecting the tattoo from the sun keeps fine line work crisp longer. - Can you tattoo a loved one's handwriting?
Yes. Bring the original note or a high-resolution scan. Hailee may clean up the lines slightly so they hold up in skin while still looking like their writing. - Do you take walk-ins for small fine line tattoos?
